A hotel gets audited twice — by the guest in the first ten seconds and by our technical services team line by line. Architects Afrique designed for both at once, and the same submission satisfied our brand standards and the Accra permitting authorities. We opened on the date we committed to.

We wanted a building distinctive enough to anchor its address but efficient enough to lease, and we did not want to referee arguments between an architect and a builder halfway through. Because one firm carried both, value decisions were made against the drawings in real time. It was handed over on programme, with the warranty in writing.

I live abroad and was nervous about building a home in Accra without being there. They ran the briefs and reviews by video, shared drawings for my approval, and sent progress reports I could actually follow. I did not have to fly back and forth, and the house is exactly what we drew.

Restoring an old building is mostly about restraint, and they understood that.
