EDGE Certification in Ghana
EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) is the most widely adopted green building certification in Ghana. Developed by IFC (International Finance Corporation), EDGE certifies buildings that achieve at least 20% savings in energy, water, and embodied energy in materials compared to a baseline building. EDGE certification costs between USD 1,500 and USD 5,000 depending on project size.
LEED Certification in Ghana
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the global gold standard for green building certification. While more expensive and complex than EDGE, LEED certification commands premium rents and sale prices in Ghana's commercial property market. LEED certification costs typically range from USD 10,000 to USD 50,000 for commercial projects.
Ghana Green Building Council (GBC)
The Ghana Green Building Council promotes sustainable building practices and administers the Green Star rating system in Ghana. GBC membership and certification provide access to technical resources, training, and a network of sustainability professionals.
